My American Viola Society Residency Videos

My last post featured my first video as American Viola Society Digital Artist-in-Residence for January/February. I was so pleased and honored to have been chosen for this role, and enjoyed the process of making videos weekly, something I haven’t done in a long time!

Over the course of my residency, I covered what I consider to be some of the most important (and sometimes neglected) topics related to the viola: developing independent and nuanced control of the the left and right hands (the pat your head/rub your stomach conundrum), how to cultivate stronger rhythm, the benefits of silent practice and slow practice, and how to flip the script on impatience in the practice room.

For those of you that don’t use Instagram/Facebook, or just didn’t catch all the videos, I’ve collected them all here into one YouTube playlist. Click on the button on the top right (where it says “1/8”) to see all the videos.

Let me know what you think in the comments!
